Unlock iPhone without Restore? 2019
Way 2: Using iTunes
This method is recommended to those who had the feature of find my iPhone turned off and also those who had not made any prior backups of their devices. This method is accomplished by forcing the iPhone into Recovery Mode using the steps below:
Step 1: Disconnect your iPhone from any pc or mac
Step 2: Press the sleep/wake button on your iPhone for a few seconds and then swipe “slide to power off” to turn off your iDevice
Step 3: Press and hold the volume down on iPhone 7 or home button on iPhone 6 and lower
Step 4: Launch iTunes on the computer and then connect your iPhone using a cable
Step 5: Release the relevant buttons depending on your iPhone model when you see the connect to iTunes screen
Step 6: A window will then pop up on iTunes giving you a choice to restore or update. Choose restore and wait for the process to finish
Step 7: Once done you will have successfully unlocked your iPhone
Way 3: Using iCloud
This method is recommended to those who had turned on the find my iPhone feature. You can use this method to restore your device erasing all content including the passcode remotely.
How to Use This Method
Step 1: Open icloud.com from a browser using another device or computer
Step 2: Sign in with your iCloud Apple ID
Step 3: On the top browser window click on “All Devices.”
Step 4: From the list select the device you want to erase or restore
Step 5: Click Erase iPhone to wipe the iPhone including the passcode locking you out remotely
Step 6: Once the iPhone is unlocked, you can then choose to restore from previous backups if you had backed up before being locked out.
Way 4: Using Recovery Mode
Using recovery mode will delete all of your data and your passcode.
Step 1: Connect your device to a computer and launch iTunes.
Step 2: Restart your device by holding down the sleep button and volume down (at the same time) until you see the recovery mode screen.
Step 3: You will see the “Restore” and “Update” options. Choose “Restore.”
Step 4: Wait until the process finishes.
Step 5: Now you can set up your device.
How to Backup and Restore iPhone Using iTunes
If you have an iPhone, there is no reasonable excuse for not backing it up. Anything can happen that would call for a complete factory reset of your iPhone leading to a complete erasure of all your digital life on the iPhone. It is better being safe than sorry. Here is how to backup and restore your iPhone using iTunes.
Backup steps
Step 1: Download, install and launch the latest iTunes on your PC or Mac.
Step 2: Connect the iPhone you want to back up to the computer using a cable.
Step 3: Once detected by the iTunes app, the phone's icon will appear as a small icon on the top menu.
Step 4: Click on the phone icon on the upper left corner.
Step 5: On the left-hand side, all the items on the iPhone will be listed under summary.
Step 6: Click on the items you want to backup. For instance, if you want to backup music, click on it and check the box next to sync music.
Step 7: Choose if you want to back up the entire library or individual tracks, and albums selectively then click apply.
Step 8: Do the same for all the other items you want to back up after which you will have successfully set up a backup from which you can restore your iPhone.
Restore steps
Before doing a restore ensure that Find My iPhone is turned off and that the destination device is running the latest iOS as iTunes does not support older iOS than that of the backup device
Step 1: Launch the iTunes you used to back up the iPhone on a PC or Mac .
Step 2: Connect your iPhone using a cable.
Step 3: Select your device when it appears in iTunes.
Step 4: Click on Summary on the left left-hand side and then choose “Restore Backup.”
Step 5: Choose the backup you want to restore from.
Step 6: Click on restore and then wait for the process to finish.
